Sybil Ludington

On the night of April 26, 1777, Sybil Ludington, age 16, alerted militia forces of the British regular forces' approach. Riding by horseback to villages of Putnam County, New York and Danbury, Connecticut, she reportedly traveled twice the distance of the historic hero, Paul Revere, best known for his line, "The British are coming!"
