Australian-American and famous Hollywood actress, Hedy Lamarr, was more than just a pretty face. She was also a brilliant mathematician and engineer who improved torpedo technology by developing the idea of "frequency hoping" which could be used against enemy torpedos, encrypting signals, jamming them and sending torpedos off course. Her invention later provided the foundation for GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi technology.
