Frances Perkins had an extensive career focused on worker's rights and safety and in 1933 became the first female U.S. Secretary of Labor. During her 12 year term, she introduced regulations for a federal minimum wage, a 40-hour work week, unemployment compensation, and a limit on employment of children under 16. She also helped draft the Social Security Act and much more.
